Minister of Youth and Sports Chairs Meeting with Club Legal Officials on New Sports Law
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, chaired an extensive meeting with a number of legal affairs officials from sports clubs to discuss the recent amendments to Sports Law No. 171 of 2025, following its ratification by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
During the meeting, the Minister outlined the key provisions of the amended law, stressing the importance of aligning clubs’ statutes with the updated legislation. He emphasized that the amendments aim to strengthen governance and transparency, regulate the electoral process, and ensure that clubs comply with the new legal requirements.
The Minister affirmed that the Ministry will provide comprehensive technical and advisory support to clubs in the coming period through regular meetings with their legal committees, to clarify mechanisms of implementation and guarantee proper enforcement of the new regulations.
Minister Sobhi: The Next Phase Will See Close Monitoring of Clubs’ Compliance
Dr. Sobhi underscored that the upcoming stage will involve strict oversight by the Ministry to ensure clubs’ commitment to adopting the required amendments in their statutes. This, he noted, will help create a more stable sporting environment and support the development of the Egyptian sports system in line with the national vision.
The Minister highlighted that the new law represents a significant milestone for Egyptian sports, as it enhances the independence of sports bodies and provides them with greater flexibility in managing their internal affairs. This, he added, will ensure institutional sustainability and keep pace with global developments in the sports sector.
He further noted that the Ministry attaches great importance to raising legal and administrative awareness within sports clubs by clarifying all aspects of the law and its implementation mechanisms. This, he explained, will improve the efficiency of legal and administrative staff, enabling them to apply modern regulations and systems in a professional manner—ultimately benefiting club members and athletes alike.
