في إطار جهود تعزيز العلاقات الاقتصادية والاستثمارية بين مصر وإيرلندا، استقبلت جمعية رجال أعمال إسكندرية برئاسة محمد هنو، السفير الأيرلندي لدى مصر أيدان أوهارا، والوفد المرافق له، وذلك لبحث فرص التعاون المشترك بين مجتمعي الأعمال في البلدين وفتح آفاق جديدة للاستثمار.
وأكد السفير الأيرلندي أيدان أوهارا أن العلاقات بين مصر وإيرلندا تشهد تطورًا متزايدًا في مجالات التجارة والاستثمار، مشيرًا إلى وجود روابط قوية بين البلدين تتيح فرصًا واعدة للشراكة، خصوصًا في قطاعات تكنولوجيا المعلومات، والتعليم، والصناعات الغذائية.
وأضاف أن بلاده تُولي اهتمامًا كبيرًا بدعم الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة، وتشجع على إقامة شراكات مع نظيراتها المصرية للاستفادة من الخبرات المشتركة وتوسيع نطاق التبادل التجاري.

وأشار أوهارا إلى أن الصادرات المصرية إلى إيرلندا شهدت نموًا بنسبة 20% خلال العام الماضي، ما يعكس جودة المنتج المصري وقدرته على المنافسة داخل الأسواق الأوروبية، مؤكدًا أن بلاده تعتبر مصر وجهة استراتيجية لجذب الاستثمارات بفضل موقعها الجغرافي المتميز واتفاقاتها التجارية الواسعة.
من جانبه، أوضح محمد هنو رئيس جمعية رجال أعمال إسكندرية، أن الحكومة المصرية تمضي قدمًا في تنفيذ إصلاحات تشريعية وضريبية لتسهيل بيئة الأعمال، إلى جانب توفير الأراضي للمستثمرين وتفعيل الاتفاقيات التجارية مع الأسواق الإفريقية ودول أمريكا الجنوبية، وهو ما يجعل مصر مركزًا جاذبًا للاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر.
كما استعرض هنو المقومات المتميزة لمدينة الإسكندرية، من بنية تحتية متطورة وموقع لوجيستي استراتيجي يربط بين البحر المتوسط وأفريقيا، إضافة إلى توافر العمالة الماهرة التي تعزز القدرة التنافسية للمدينة.
وفي السياق ذاته، أشار المهندس مدحت القاضي نائب رئيس مجلس الإدارة، إلى التطور الملحوظ في قطاع النقل والموانئ، حيث حقق ميناء شرق بورسعيد المركز الثالث عالميًا في مؤشر كفاءة الموانئ لعام 2025، وهو ما يعزز من تنافسية الصادرات المصرية.
شهد اللقاء حضور عدد من أعضاء مجلس الإدارة، من بينهم الدكتور عبد المنعم حافظ، والدكتور محمد محرم، والمهندس محمد عرفة، وعبد العال علي رئيس لجنة الجمارك، بالإضافة إلى هاني المنشاوي، والدكتور أمجد العتال، والمهندس هشام أبو العلا.كما حضر من جانب السفارة هشام جمال المستشار الفخري، وفريانا إسحاق مسؤولة السياسات.
“Egyptian Exports Up 20%” — Alexandria Businessmen Association and Irish Ambassador Explore Stronger Economic Partnerships
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance economic and investment relations between Egypt and Ireland, the Alexandria Businessmen Association (ABA), headed by Mohamed Hano, welcomed the Irish Ambassador to Egypt, Aidan O’Hara, and his accompanying delegation to discuss potential cooperation opportunities and expand bilateral investments.
Ambassador Aidan O’Hara emphasized that relations between Egypt and Ireland are witnessing significant progress, particularly in trade and investment. He noted the existence of strong ties between the two nations, offering promising opportunities for partnerships, especially in the fields of information technology, education, and food industries.
He further stated that Ireland places great importance on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and encourages partnerships with Egyptian counterparts to exchange expertise and expand trade flows.
O’Hara highlighted that Egyptian exports to Ireland have grown by 20% over the past year, reflecting the high quality and competitiveness of Egyptian products in European markets. He also stressed that Ireland views Egypt as a strategic destination for investment, thanks to its prime geographic location and broad network of trade agreements.
For his part, Mohamed Hano, Chairman of the Alexandria Businessmen Association, explained that the Egyptian government is actively implementing legislative and tax reforms to improve the business climate. He added that Egypt continues to provide land for investors and activate trade agreements with African and South American markets, positioning the country as an attractive hub for foreign direct investment.
Hano also pointed out that Alexandria boasts a combination of advanced infrastructure, strategic logistics capabilities, and a skilled workforce, all of which enhance its competitiveness and investment appeal.
Meanwhile, Eng. Medhat El-Kady, Vice Chairman of the ABA, highlighted Egypt’s remarkable development in the logistics and port sectors, noting that East Port Said Port ranked third globally in the 2025 Port Efficiency Index, further strengthening Egypt’s position as a leading export hub.
The meeting was attended by several board members, including Dr. Abdel Moneim Hafez, Dr. Mohamed Moharram, Eng. Mohamed Arafa, and Abdel Aal Ali, Head of the Customs Committee, in addition to Hany El-Menshawy, Dr. Amgad El-Attal, and Eng. Hisham Abu El-Ala.
From the Irish Embassy, Hesham Gamal, Honorary Adviser, and Feryana Ishaq, Policy Officer, were also present.
