The Alexandria Businessmen’s Association (ABA), headed by Chairman Mohamed Hanno, welcomed Lars Bo Møller, the Danish Ambassador to Egypt, along with Amr El-Naggar, Honorary Consul of the Danish Embassy in Alexandria, to explore avenues of cooperation and opportunities for joint trade exchange between the two sides.
Danish Ambassador: Exploring Partnerships in Solar Energy, Agriculture, and Workforce Development
Ambassador Lars Bo Møller expressed his interest in strengthening collaboration with the association through a number of initiatives, particularly in the fields of solar energy, agribusiness, and workforce development.
Hanno: Praises Expansions and Calls for Promoting Investment and Tourism
For his part, Chairman Mohamed Hanno emphasized the promising opportunities to enhance Egypt–Denmark partnerships, highlighting the growing interest of business leaders in expanding areas of mutual cooperation. He praised the recent expansions at Alexandria ports, which have reinforced the city’s position as a leading trade hub. Hanno also called for greater efforts to promote Alexandria as an attractive investment and tourism destination, through effective partnerships that showcase its competitive advantages.
He further pointed to existing collaborations with the German government in the field of dual education, as well as joint initiatives with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Medhat El-Kady: Plan to Boost Trade Exchange by 20%
Meanwhile, Engineer Medhat El-Kady, Vice Chairman of ABA for SME Development, revealed that cooperation between Egypt and Denmark is being activated in several areas, including food security, digital transformation, and sustainability. He explained that comprehensive data-driven analyses are currently underway to support the development of trade exchange, with the aim of increasing trade volume by 20%.
El-Kady, who was part of the delegation accompanying President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during his recent visit to the Danish Royal Family at Christian VII’s Palace, affirmed that this collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening economic partnerships.
The meeting was attended by Engineer Medhat El-Kady, Vice Chairman for SME Development and Chairman of the project’s advisory council; Dr. Mohamed Moharram, Vice Chairman for New Projects and Expansions; Haitham El-Qayyar, Secretary-General of the Association; Engineer Mohamed Abdelaziz Arafa, Board Member; along with several committee heads and association members.
