This afternoon, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received a delegation from the Arab Contractors Union at the League’s headquarters in Cairo. The delegation was led by Mr. Ali Fakher Al-Sanafi, President of the Union, and included Mr. Sherif Abbas Wahbi, Vice President of the Union; Eng. Hamdy Shehata, Secretary-General; Dr. Kamal Hassan Ali; and Dr. Eng. Malik Dangla, Advisors to the Board of Directors. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League.
During the meeting, the delegation expressed their deep appreciation to the Secretary-General for his continued support of joint Arab efforts. They reaffirmed their aspiration to strengthen institutional cooperation between the Union and the Arab League in the fields of reconstruction, sustainable development, and infrastructure projects across Arab countries, particularly those affected by conflicts.
A Shared Vision to Promote Arab Integration in Construction, Development, and Infrastructure Sectors
Both sides discussed a number of initiatives and proposals aimed at enhancing Arab partnership in the construction and contracting sector, including:

Organizing the Arab Conference for Reconstruction and Development under the joint auspices of the Arab League and the Arab Contractors Union.

Collaborating with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development to support reconstruction and infrastructure programs.

Establishing a unified Arab classification system for contractors in coordination with the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction.

Adopting the principle of prioritizing Arab and local contractors in project implementation across the region.

Developing a model Arab legislative framework to regulate partnerships between Arab contractors and foreign companies in major development projects.
Following the meeting, Mr. Ali Fakher Al-Sanafi stated that the Arab Contractors Union is committed to deepening its cooperation with the Arab League as a regional platform for unifying efforts and promoting Arab economic integration in the construction and development sectors. He emphasized that the coming phase will witness joint coordination to launch new Arab initiatives in reconstruction and sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides exchanged commemorative shields and took official photographs, underscoring the strength of their relations and their shared commitment to advancing the goals of development and prosperity throughout the Arab world.
